Kim Cusack's love for Dixieland Jazz began with his long relationship with the Salty Dogs Jazz Band, with whom he was the principal clarinetist. For years Kim has been the clarinetist with James Dapogny's Chicago Jazz Band, noted for their appearances on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show, and at other prestigious venues including performances at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Kim has been featured on over 40 recordings, appeared at jazz festivals throughout the US and Alaska, and has worked with jazz legends including Georg Brunis, Wild Bill Davison, Turk Murphy and Gene Mayl's Dixieland Rhythm Kings.
